925 million people are hungry
Everyday 16,000 children die from hunger related causes. That's one child every 5 seconds
There were 1.4 billion people in extreme poverty in 2005. With rising populations we can only expect that this number has grown with the population.
In 2009, nearly 9 million children before their fifth birthday. One third of these deaths were directly related to hunger or malnutrition.
Around the world, 178 million children under five are stunted with low heights for their age group. Of all stunted children, 90% live in just 36 countries most of them in sub-Saharan Africa and South and Central Asia.
US Development Assistance accounts for only 0.2% of National Gross Income.
